The Cattle
Information Service has been awarded Product of the Year by the Agriscot judging panel for the recently introduced Urea
analysis. The CIS were recognised ahead of a dozen other new products including
the joint second placed solar powered water trough and sheep crush!
All milk samples
collected at recording are now individually and group screened to identify urea
levels in the milk for every cow at no extra cost to the farmer. Excessively
high or low levels can indicate problems with feed conversion efficiency and
associated reduced fertility. This service is aimed at identifying
which cows may need attention as soon as possible, helping to get them back on
track quickly, all of which saves the farmer money.
Made available
to CIS customers on Monday, this service is at no extra cost, forming part of
the normal milk recording package which now also
includes an online medicine book. Results are made available through the CIS
website, usually within 48 hours of recording. For more information, call CIS
on 01923 695319.
