The CIS is farmer-owned and farmer-controlled. Involving all the leading cattle organisations, our objective is to improve standards of service, accuracy and value throughout all dairy herd management information practices.

One of the cornerstones of our foundation is to drive out duplication and cost from the UK dairy industry and make the benefits of new technology available to every dairy farmer in the simplest way possible.

Top Business Award for CIS.

The Cattle Information Service has been awarded the title of the top Livestock Supplier of the Year 2008 in the annual business awards organised by the Scottish Farmer agricultural journal and the Royal Highland Agricultural Society.

This prestigious accolade won against stiff competition is based on friendly service, customer satisfaction, value for money and consistent innovation. In the judging panels own words CIS has transformed the value of milk recording.

CIS Win the Queen's Award for Enterprise


The Cattle Information Service is very proud to be granted the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the category of Innovation.

CIS has won the award for the continuous development of a web based service Your Herd which enables dairy farmers to easily access all the vital information to manage their herds more efficiently.

The Queens Awards for Enterprise are made each year by The Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce.
