The Cattle Information Service (CIS) Laboratory in Shropshire

The Cattle Information Services has recently invested in a purpose-built state-of-the-art laboratory testing facility ensuring the business continues to provide the independent and reliable service offered, with scope for future growth and testing services.  This testing facility, under its robust Quality Management System, is UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ICAR approved.

CIS operate a highly sophisticated Quality Management System to ensure full confidence in each result reported.

  • Compositional analysis for Butterfat, Protein, Lactose, Urea and Somatic Cell counts
  • Capability for analysis of Fatty Acids and Ketosis
  • State of the art automation and equipment to provide results
  • Samples individually barcoded and analysed uniformly to ensure full traceability and confidence in each result
  • Analysis for Johne's, BVD Ab, BVD Ag, IBR Ab, IBR gE Ab, Lepto, Neospora and Liver Fluke.
  • BVDV Tissue, Blood and Milk testing by PCR or Elisa
  • Pregcheck screening service
  • Capability for analysis of most* diseases using blood
  • Results can be viewed online using the herd management programme YourHerd and MobileHerd app.

The laboratory also operates a Pregcheck screening service for the detection of Pregnancy-associated Glycoproteins found in milk during pregnancy as early as 28 days after breeding.

The Cattle Information Service (CIS) provides reports to support the management of herds. Results can be viewed online using the herd management programme YourHerd and MobileHerd app. Opinions and interpretations expressed herein are outside the scope of UKAS accreditation.
